Priscilla Meets Santa

Priscilla has been enjoying a busy holiday season. She was very excited to have the opportunity to support her favorite cause: animal rescue! PeachState Pet Partners assisted pets having their pictures taken with Santa at PetSmart in Buford, GA. Priscilla even got a little face time with the man himself. She felt great helping out and thinks the world of the pet owners and PetSmart for the donations involved with this event.

Priscilla would like to remind everyone that PeachState Pet Partners attends adoptions every other Sunday at the Buford PetSmart store. Call or email ahead to make sure the group is there if you're thinking about providing a home for a rescued dog or cat. If you are unable to provide a home, but still want to help, consider volunteering or donating. Items like old towels, newspaper and pet supplies are always useful.

Priscilla Has Style

On Friday Dec 10, Priscilla consulted with a stylist! Juanita Martin of Nova Salon is accustomed to working with many different hairstyles, but Priscilla posed a particular challenge.

“Feathers are always the toughest,” said Juanita. “They can be fragile, but they do have great body.”

Priscilla enjoyed her time at the salon very much. If any friends would like to experience Juanita’s styling talents, go ahead and call for an appointment.

Priscilla's Evolution

The people involved in Priscilla's evolution deserve credit (or blame). The team I work with at my real job all have had a big influence during Priscilla's formative year. Laney receives great thanks for being the first to understand when Priscilla told us her name.

The movies "Amelie" and "Up in the Air" were also inspirations to Priscilla. She recommends them highly, but said she'd rather not say why. She doesn't want to spoil the plots for you.

The questions remain as to who first delivered Priscilla into our hands and also what artistry first conceived such a being. The only only clue to the latter is a sticker underneath Priscilla's base. It reads "onstage atlanta theater company" with a web address: onstage.atlanta.com.

The History of Priscilla

On an otherwise uneventful day sometime in December of 2009, a new companion appeared on the desk of a co-worker. Melissa (name changed to protect the innocent) was nonplussed at the presence of pink livestock on her desk. The rest of us gathered in awe. A creature such as this seemed a thing of religion, mythology or perhaps folk art. We debated is she a cow? A sheep? A fanciful trip into the subconscious mind of a college student taking LSD? Regardless of her species, we all agreed she was female.

After the initial consternation at her sudden appearance on the scene, days came and went in the normal fashion. Melissa and the pink "thing" had disagreements. Mostly, Melissa just didn't like her and wished she would leave. Unwanted, her pinkness trundled off to an unoccupied desk nearby where she resided for the following eight months.

In August 2010, changes were in store for the company. All employees were busily packing their work implements and personal possessions into crates for a big move. In this time of tumult, the poor pink darling seemed forgotten. But she knew she had to move on. Living in an empty office, devoid of the contact of fellow beings, was no way to be. It took her a little longer to get to the new office, but she persevered and once again appeared on Melissa's desk.

Melissa was incensed. She had purposely left this creature behind and wanted no part of her. It was during this sad time that others took pity and recognized her potential. New friendships were forged and our formerly forlorn friend finally opted to share her name with the world: Priscilla!

Now, having learned how to make friends and wanting to see more of what life has to offer, Priscilla is traveling. This is a log of her travels and adventures.
